Collingsworth County anchors the southeastern corner of the Texas Panhandle, bordered by Oklahoma to the east. Wellington is the county seat of one of Texas’s smallest — and least-protested — counties. With a population under 3,000 and an economy built on farming and ranching, agricultural exemptions and accurate land valuations are critical for property owners here.
The county is named for James Collinsworth, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. That heritage should remind every property owner: the right to challenge an unjust appraisal is as foundational as the Republic itself. Protest rates are low here — which means there is real opportunity to reduce your bill.
